CASE: As long as you have autorun.inf running you dont stand a chance to fully exterminate the problem. But autorun.inf is our clue to getting rid of all these things. So lets start. YOU WILL NEED TO BE LOGGED IN AS ADMINISTRATOR TO PROCEED
NOTE: STEP 1 CAN BE SKIPPED
STEP 1: Identifying the .exe from autorun.inf a) Open My Computer b) Type in address bar C:\autorun.inf and press ENTER (opens by auto in notepad) c) You can then see a process like xjakdh.exe is a**ociated for autorun. Note this process down somewhere, as you will need to get back to this process d) Close autorun.inf by closing the (notepad file)
MOVING ON.....
STEP 2: Getting rid of autorun.inf (Requires patience) a) Open Task Manager b) Go to processes and kill (end task) explorer.exe. Press END PROCESS to confirm. All windows will close. No worries c) From Task Manager take: File > New Task > d) In Create New Task type CMD and press OK (Command Prompt opens. But dont close Task Manager) e) Type: del c:\autorun.* /f /s /q /a f) Press ENTER and WAIT while autorun.inf(s) and all a**ociated files are being DELETED g) When this is done, the cmd will return to your initial path, usually C:\Documents and Settings….. h) REPEAT the steps (e) and (f) for ALL partitions, by changing driver letter ‘X’ for ‘d’ like
del c:\autorun.* /f /s /q /a del X:\autorun.* /f /s /q /a
i) when ALL is done, close CMD and take New Task again and type explorer.exe and press ENTER (Voila! Your windows are back)
STEP 3: Checking if you have gotten rid of autorun.inf If you are able to enter your drives (C or X) with double click, the problem has been solved....partially...lets move on to next Step 4 btw like in Step 1, if you are NOT able to open autorun.inf, then you have done it. Lets move to Step 4.
STEP 4: Fixing Hidden Files by Creating a Registry File a) Copy the ENTIRE code from this page: (paste this URL in ur browser, ENTER)
b) When the above link open, copy and paste the contents of that page in a notepad file and save as fixfolder.reg and save it on ur desktop c) Go to your desktop and double click fixfolder.reg and press OK to apply
STEP 5 Final Check and (Getting back to STEP 1) d) Now open any folder and check if you can unhide the folders and if you can see the hidden folers and files
e) If you CAN, then go to partition C:\ or D:\ or X:\ drives and delete the process that you saw in the autorun.inf file from STEP1, example: xjakdh.exe
f) Also delete all other unusual files like .com or .inf or .exe files. BE CAREFUL NOT TO DELETE ANY SYSTEM FILES, LIKE *.SYS *.BAT and *.BAK
g) Go to C:\windows\system32 and delete files in the name amvo.exe, amva.exe, amvo0.dll, amvo1.dll, amva0.dll, amva1.dll
STEP 5: Finishing Touch a) Start > Run > regedit (enter) b) Scroll to HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RUN c) delete entry for amvo.exe (if any) from the right side pane in …\RUN
FINALLY: U CAN RELAX, IN JUST 5 STEPS.
